Ruairi Robinson is an Irish filmmaker based in Los Angeles. His first CG-animated short film 50 PERCENT GREY received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film in 2002. His follow-up SILENT CITY starring Cillian Murphy marked Ruairi's transition into directing live action, and gained him representation at CAA, and a development deal with Warner Brothers on the live-action adaptation of the manga film AKIRA. Most recently he completed the short film BLINKY (starring Max Records from Where the Wild THings Are), and is currently in post-production on another short film "Imaginary Forces", shot in Dublin and Detroit.
THE LAST DAYS ON MARS will be Ruairi's feature film debut. Other feature projects in development include THE FALLEN with producer Kris Thykier (Kick Ass) and Lionsgate Films, and THE LEVIATHAN with screenwriter Jim Uhls (FIGHT CLUB) with producers Michael Shamberg & Stacey Sher. Ruairi began his film career in post production and visual effects before moving into directing commercials. Commercials to date includes work for The Milk Board of Canada, Thorntons Chocolatiers, Boru Vodka, Hells Kitchen and Zanussi. He is the the winner of over 40 international awards and nominations for his short films and commercials, including the Sharks, the Icads, Design Awards, LEAF, British Animation Awards, O2 Digital Awards, The Bessies, Empire State Film Festival and Dresden Filmfest.
