John graduated MSU's Advertising program in 1991. Then worked for several years as a copywriter on brands in every category, from La-z-Boy and Progressive Insurance to Mazda and Coca-Cola, before finally taking on a Creative Director post for HGTV, Del Taco and Cox Communications.
From his very first shoot, he found himself drawn closer and closer to the camera until inevitably ending up in the director's chair, where he is most at home.
John is a storyteller at heart.
In 2004, he sold his first screenplay to Dreamworks and in his free time he continues to write feature scripts, short stories and hopes to finish his first novel this year. In the end, his passion for filmmaking is what drives it all.
